Joint IUPS-FEPS workshop on Africa-Europe Research collaborations

A two-hour workshop will be held during Europhysiology 2020 in Berlin. The aim of the workshop is to highlight existing research activities in a broad range of physiological topics, followed by an interactive discussion between audience and panellists. The discussion will focus on successes and challenges, finding funding, and how to achieve sustainability.

Research areas to be covered include cardiovascular health, nutrition, haematology, maternal, and comparative physiology, Confirmed speakers include, Faadil Essop (South Africa), Bond Anyaehie, (Nigeria), Aissatou Seck (Senegal) and Zaina Amirat (Algeria).

The session will be introduced by Susan Wray (1st Vice-President of IUPS and President of FEPS), and Olusoga "Soga" Sofola (IUPS Council). The discussion will be chaired by Julie Chen (IUPS President) and Nandu Goswani (Austria).

The workshop is an official part of the Europhysiology 2020 meeting and will be held from 11-1:00 on 10th September 2020. All are warmly welcome to attend. More details about Europhysiology can be found at https://www.europhysiology2020.org/

IUPS and FEPS will be able to provide a number of travel grants, focused especially on earlier career stage physiologists from Africa. Details will follow shortly about how to apply and what funds are available.
